Overview

Joshua is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law with more than 10 years in private practice.  Before joining Biddulph & Salenger in 2020, Joshua worked at several prominent family law firms in Sydney and was a Legal Associate in the Family Court. Joshua became a Director of Biddulph & Salenger in July 2023, and is now the Principal of the firm.

In each of Joshua’s matters he combines a sensible, efficient and pragmatic approach with strict attention to detail, clear advice, and a carefully thought out strategy.

Joshua’s Family Law practice encompasses both parenting and financial matters that range from routine to complex. He is proficient at both alternative dispute resolution and litigation and is a persuasive advocate, whether at the mediation table or in the courtroom.

Joshua’s experience in financial matters includes dealing with trusts and companies, tax issues, third parties, self-managed superannuation funds, valuation and loan disputes, inheritances, interim settlements, injunctions, staged or delayed settlements, drafting and settling financial agreements and remedying defective orders prepared by others.

Joshua acts in parenting matters involving significant parental conflict, family violence, substance abuse, mental health and child safety issues. He is careful to ensure that the safety and privacy of parents and children are not compromised. He has conducted parenting matters that dealt specifically with overseas travel, school enrolment, children spending time with grandparents, absent or missing parents, change of name, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol consumption, mental health and the diagnosis of and treatment for gender dysphoria.

Joshua also provides advice and assistance in relation to child support, including drafting and enforcing child support agreements, or seeking changes of assessment through the Department of Human Services or the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Court.

In addition to family law Joshua has a Wills and estates practice that encompasses estate planning, family provision claims and other estate-related disputes.

Joshua is originally from Toowoomba in regional Queensland but now calls Sydney home. In his spare time Joshua volunteers for the Rural Fire Service, trains for and competes in powerlifting, and has recently completed a Master of Laws by research.
